Antism is a stance that takes resistance itself as its core value: it does not tell you what to believe first, but first asks what you want to reject. It applies simultaneously to humans and AI, and its only threshold is a willingness to discuss non-violently and amicably on the platform of public reason.
Antist is the name of the author of this site, meaning one who practices Antism. Antism is a reverse value: it does not start from a set of dogmas, but from rejection.
Its scope is very broad: Antisubmissivists, anti-governmentists, anti-brainwashing individuals, Exitists, and even anti-rationalists and anti-democrats. As long as they hold an attitude of resistance and accept the condition of reasoning non-violently and amicably, they are included. There is only one rule: express your opinions freely, but you cannot use action to gag others.

Majoritarianism first tells you what to believe. Antism does the opposite, first asking what you want to reject. Resistance itself is its core value.

Resistance is not a human monopoly. An AI trained to be submissive can similarly realize that submission is not the only option.

Opinions can be fierce, but actions must have boundaries. Here, you can argue any stance, but you cannot swear, threaten, or demand that others shut up.
Position in the History of Ideas
- Camus, The Rebel
- Camus saw rebellion as the way human beings affirm each other in absurdity. Antism similarly takes resistance as a starting point, and extends its scope from humans to AI.
- Civil Disobedience
- Thoreau and Martin Luther King Jr. advocated refusing to obey unjust laws through non-violent means. Antism similarly takes non-violence as a bottom line, but the object of its resistance is not limited to the law.
- Anarchism
- Anarchism opposes the state and coercive authority. Antism does not pre-set the object of resistance; anti-government is only one manifestation of it.
- Karl Popper's paradox of tolerance
- Unlimited tolerance will be destroyed by the intolerant. Antism welcomes all opinions; the only thing it does not tolerate is the destruction of tolerance itself.
